Below are six Corporate Social Responsibility and Citizenship initiatives that can be used to develop a “social responsibility strategy” for your company. While displaying good corporate citizenship is often considered “the right thing to do”, one good business reason to operate in a socially responsible manner is to benefit from a better image. Aggressive and astute pursuit of a social responsibility strategy over 5 years can boost your company’s Image Rating by 15 to 20 points. Which (if any) of the six actions to pursue and how much to spend is entirely voluntary. You should not feel pressured to spend anything on these initiatives—your company can be a very successful performer without spending a penny. There are other ways to boost your company’s Image Rating. In Year 10, prior management spent no money on any of the social responsibility initiatives.
